VW Golf & Toyota Scion FR-S 86 from our June Catalog Cover

Typically, you see hot rods or muscle cars on the cover of our monthly California Car Cover catalog, but we wanted to feature some of our local customers who are just as passionate about their newer vehicles. Migel Armas, who owns the Scion FR-S, and Bernie Chacon, the owner of the Volkswagen Golf, are very active and well respected in the Southern California import and European car scene. We had some new products we wanted to feature in some cars and couldn't think of better guys to have out to the photo shoot.

 Migel's Scion FR-S 86 was one of the first 86 FR-S models produced. If you are not familiar with the Scion FR-S, it is a very tunable and customizable vehicle that was a huge hit at SEMA this past year. This special edition Scion has already been given a number of custom upgrades by Migel.

 Migel added a carbon fiber rear wing and front lip from Aero Jacket. The vehicle also has upgraded KW suspension components and a Tanabe exhaust system.

 I think our customers will really appreciate what is under the hood. The engine has been equipped with a Vortech Supercharger. You can read more about the supercharger upgrade on the Vortech website.

The other vehicle on our June California Car Cover catalog cover is the 2010 Volkswagen Golf TDI owned by Bernie Chacon. If you follow our blog or Instagram feed you probably have seen this car a few times. For the past few years, Bernie has coordinated the popular VW Oktoberfest in Big Bear, Ca, a popular VW event on the west coast. Additionally, he helps us promote and host our annual European Car Show, which has become one of the larger events held at California Car Cover.

Bernie operates dub-Nation.com a popular website and social media outlet for Volkswagen enthusiasts around the country.

The Volkswagen Golf looks stock, but features many subtle custom details. Empire Fabrication did all the body modifications which include emblem shaving, tailgate blend and a hood notch. The Golf TDI also rides on custom HRE wheels and Toyo Tires.

First Shows of the 2012 Season at California Car Cover

A few new events highlights the 2012 show series at California Car Cover. These two events are just the first ones to be announced for the season, so keep an eye on our Events Page as more shows are scheduled. There will be plenty more events happening at California Car Cover this spring and summer.

"Southern California is the backbone to the auto enthusiast community and we love hosting car shows at our facility," said Jim DeFrank, the president of California Car Cover. "We look forward to a lot of fun weekends this year."
On April 28th, we will be hosting the Ford Flex Connection. Yes, a Ford Flex show at California Car Cover. Some employees and I happen to be Flex owners so we entered into some talks with our friends at FordFlex.net to host a Saturday Show and Shine and it is happening. It should be a fun day networking with fellow Flex owners and talking car care.
The next Saturday, spend Cinco de Mayo with California Car Cover at our European Car Show 2012. Last year, we hosted separate Mini Cooper, VW and Audi events and this year we decided to combine them into one big show at California Car Cover.
The Saturday, May 5th get together will feature a Golden Shine product demonstration and detailing seminar to help enthusiasts make their vehicles look their best. We will also have a taco truck in celebration of Cinco de Mayo and raffle prize drawings for attendees.

Whether you own a Volkswagen, Audi, BMW, Fiat, Mini, Mercedes or any make of European car hopefully you can join us on Saturday, May 5th 2012.

A few weeks later California Car Cover will be hosting a Camaro only show on Saturday, June 9th 2012. It will be the first time we have a Camaro only event at our store and we are looking forward to it. The show is open to all generations of Camaro vehicles.

Whether you drive a 1969 or a 2012 Camaro bring it over to California Car Cover on the first Saturday in June for a car show and shine. We will have a Golden Shine Car Care Seminar and raffle prizes for attendees.

In September our 4th Annual Fall Parts Exchange and Parking Lot Sale in back. This is a fun Saturday morning event at California Car Cover. It is a great place to pick up hard to find car parts in the San Fernando Valley. It is also one of our annual parking lot sales for California Car Cover when we empty the warehouse and slash prices on overstock and seasonal merchandise.

50 Years of Volkswagen Beetle on the Cover

We featured a couple of nice Volkswagen Beetles on the cover of our February 2012 California Car Cover catalog. The February edition of our catalog was sent out to local customers and anyone who placed an order in January. In case you did not receive one in the mail, here are some extra pics of the VWs from the cover shoot.
Special thanks to John Schiess for bringing over his restored 1962 Volkswagen Beetle by our store. John is the owner of Custom Built Machines around the corner from us in Chatsworth, Ca. His shop has built a few vehicles featured on our catalog cover.

The 2012 Beetle Turbo belongs to local customer Bonnie Lewis. We were happy that she would let her baby out of her sight for a short period of time and let us photograph it.

People do not necessarily think of California Car Cover first when it comes to car covers or floor mats for their European car. But our shop can make car covers, seat covers, and floor mats for just about any European car on the road.

This is also a great time to mention that we just scheduled our first European Car Show at California Car Cover on Saturday, May 5th 2012. We had a lot of fun hosting Golden Shine detail days with local Audi, VW and Mini Cooper clubs last year. Now we will be hosting a car show open to all brands of European cars.
